Funky Glam Princess Room

Kristalyn Naylor decorated her 9 year old daughters room as a surprise birthday present makeover. Kristalyn: "I tried to keep costs down by being thrifty and making or re-making most everything myself.  I didn't want to paint, mostly because it is a large room, so I used bright bold colors throughout to add interest.  It is a mix of styles but the continuity lies in the repeated colors and fabrics. It was a lot of fun and she loved it."

Modern Paper Doll Girls Room

Misty Vento of Lime Blossom Designs came up with this modern paper doll sweet girly room.

Misty says, "This room was designed for a great customer and friend.  She was nice enough to give me full reign while she was out of town.  This room use to be a guest room turned into a chic design that her 18 month old could in the future share with little visitors.  After the crib is gone there will be two matching twin beds.  The room was so much fun to design, it's modern but still feminine and girly without being over the top!  She was as thrilled with it as her mom and I were!"

Boys Nursery: Clothing As Decorating Inspiration

Madelyn Ridgeway and her husband designed this awesome nursery for their son. Paint Colors:
Grey-BehrAnonymous (780f-5)
Blue-Behr - Brilliant sea (deep) (520-b)
Black-BehrBeluga (770 f-7)
White-Behr - Color bright white. All paint is interior satin enamel
Their inspiration was this little boys vest...

Madelyn:
"I originally painted the room grey in anticipation of a little girl’s grey and lavender room only to find out I was having a boy. Although I was disappointed at first, I found this sweater and was instantly smitten by it and used it to design the nursery around. One of the best things about the inspiration is that it had grey in it because we didn’t want to re-paint the room again if we could help it."

I featured this room back in September instructions on how to paint an argyle wall.  Madelyn sent updated photos of the finished room.

Too cute! Thanks for sharing.

Great Ideas For Displaying Kids' Art

What to do with all the art your kids bring home from school or make at home?   This large focal wall was painted with various shapes and sizes of frames to hold kids artwork. I love the idea of "painted" frames.

"Painted-on frames, clips and the use of different shades of colors all help create the look of this wall, which is meant to feature the rotating artwork of children, as well as be a decorative element in the room. Simple bulldog barrel binder clips were colored to match the corresponding frame and then attached to the wall with Velcro. The result is a magical mural that serves a purpose. Even empty of original artwork, the frames still look full because of the images within them." Images from here.

Here are a few other solutions to help with the artwork clutter.
Take photos of your kids artwork.  Make a special scrapbook of photos of all your childs art.  This is such an easy solution to art that takes up a lot of space.

Hang a few wires on the wall and display "rotating" art

Use cork wall tiles to create a mini art gallery. Image from here.

Dynamic Frames  makes these clever art cabinet/frames. The frame/cabinet opens from the front and can hold 50 pieces of art.

Jan Eleni scans your kids art and creates a one-of-a-kind poster (original art is returned to you).  Seriously cool.
